Hello UHS Community,

We are writing to update you on the Head of School search process. The Head of School Search Committee, our Faculty Staff Advisory Committee (FSAC), and our search partners, RG175, have all been very busy. Over the last few weeks, we have reviewed the dossiers of a large cohort of applicants in-depth and conducted in-person interviews. We are truly honored by the range of talents and collective successes of the applicant pool. All candidates have shown a strong interest in and appreciation for UHS.

The search is led by the Trustee Search Committee, who are now in the midst of narrowing the pool to the finalists. As a next step, finalist candidates will visit UHS in April/May. At that time, we will have inclusive meetings with all of UHS's respective constituents (Parents, Students, Faculty, Staff, Administration, Alums, and Trustees). We will then follow those meetings with surveys to gather community-wide feedback.

Detail on the HOS Search Process:

Application Process: To date our search partners, RG175, have both received candidate applications as well as sourced high potential candidates. They have connected with well over 50 candidates. Our evaluation of the qualifications of the candidates has been largely guided by the Position Statement, which was based on detailed research, interviews, and surveys completed in November. The Position Statement describes the challenges and opportunities as well as the characteristics we are looking for in our next Head of the School.

The November survey results can be found here.

We are humbled and excited by the range of applicants who come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences.

RG175 conducted multiple interviews and compiled detailed dossiers for the Search Committee, including in-depth references for the top 25 candidates. From this group, the Search Committee deliberately narrowed the field to a smaller cohort for in-person interviews with the Search Committee and the Faculty Staff Advisory Committee. From the confidential semi-finalist candidate interviews, we will narrow the pool to our finalists.

Next Steps – Open Meetings: We anticipate sharing with you the finalists who will come to UHS for open meetings with all UHS constituents (Parents, Students, Faculty, Staff, Administration, Alums, and Trustees) in the upcoming weeks. More details to follow.

Prior communications and more details can be found here on our website. We expect to complete our search by the end of this academic year, June 2025, for a July 1, 2026 start.

We are so grateful for your commitment to UHS and welcome questions to headsearch@sfuhs.org
