CALIFORNIA STREET CAMPUS UPDATE  |  APRIL 2024

Dear UHS Community,

We are thrilled to share some exciting updates on the progress of our California Street Campus. Construction is on time and on budget for an opening in the fall of 2025.

UHS trustees, faculty, staff, and construction partners touring the California Campus site.

Completion of the basement concrete marked the end of the substructure phase - an important milestone for the project. The basement will house utility spaces, storage rooms, and bike parking. We are currently in the phase of installing the structural steel. A 350-ton capacity mobile crane has been installed to hoist and set the steel in place. Enjoy the below photos to get a sense of the progress to date.

CAMPUS SPOTLIGHT: UHS GYM AND COMMUNITY SPACE

The California Street Campus will house a full-sized gymnasium, a first for our school. UHS will have the ability to host home games and regional championships and truly develop and showcase the athletic talent of our student body. A premier indoor athletic space to complement our current athletic facilities will strengthen our programming and the skill and confidence of our student-athletes while strengthening physical and mental health, which will serve our students into adulthood.

WHAT'S THE IMPACT?

We asked Athletic Director, Anthony Thomas, to describe what the new athletic space means to him.

“The inclusion of a full-size gym in the new California Street Campus is monumental for UHS”, says Athletic Director Anthony Thomas. “For the first time, we’ll have the ability to host postseason competitions while welcoming over 600 fans to cheer for our teams. Our student-athletes are remarkable and now our facilities will be elevated to match our program.”
